Chelmsley Wood Baptist Church faith//hope//love

  • Craig? Chelmund? Heritage?

Everyone is entitled to their views! In reference to the renaming issue I just felt I’d make a few responses to the town council.

‘Chelmsley Wood town councillor Alf Hill said the community wanted to keep Craig Croft’s heritage.

“Most people don’t feel it necessary to change the name of Craig Croft,”.

I’m not sure who they asked as the meeting where the council discussed this was not announced and was held in private.

““It’s been like that for the past 40 odd years. Someone is talking about some Saxon warrior, quite frankly, they need to have their head examined.” (Cllr Hill, Chelmlsey Wood Town Council)

    Just a couple of responses…

True, it’s been called Craig Croft for 40 years. On the other hand, it’s been called Chelmsley for 1000 years. You can read it in the Domesday Book.

Secondly, it’s fine to disagree, it’s fine to believe strongly in your position, but to start being rude about people who don’t see things the same way, I don’t know why the council is taking that line with people in their community.

    Read it for yourself…

You can vote for your favourite name at the chemist/gps/community centre/local schools in the area in question.

Welcome to the blog

Neil (the minister) occasionally gets round to blogging so welcome to the trivia and ramblings of an erratic stream of consciousness.

Because we try to be properly Baptist, these views aren't necessarily the views of everyone who is part of the church family here.

We're not even sure they're Neil's.

Either way, we try not to fall out over it.

You can also follow Neil's personal and irrelevant twitter.
