SW 02a Prayer

Sunday Mornings

1st Sunday of the month
This is a very informal time together. We usually meet in the cafe area, there is coffee on the go all morning with children (and adults!) roaming around. Starting with a time of worship using more contemporary songs, we then break into groups, some for quiet prayer in the chapel, some for discussion and others for slightly more rowdy craft activity. These are times to celebrate the family community God has called us to, all ages learning and worshipping together.

2nd Sunday of the month
This Sunday has an emphasis on prayer, within a more 'traditional' (Baptist) service setting. After opening worship together the children go off to Sunday school and the adults spend time reflecting on the readings and in prayer. We vary our approach to prayer, over the last year we've used music and images, ancient methods (lectio divina), dialogue, silence, we'll try anything that keeps our talking to God fresh and alive.

3rd Sunday of the month
Sacred Space is at the heart of our worship life. We share bread and wine (communion) during these services we use liturgies (written prayers) to guide us through the worship. The different liturgies we use have been compiled by us and include words from Celtic and Saxon traditions as well as using themes such as justice or the seasons.

4th Sunday of the month
The fourth Sunday has an emphasis on teaching. This week follows the more traditional style in terms of music and format. The main talk usually emphasises a practical outworking of our faith as well as tackling real questions.
